Jason's Jomalhari Trek

Between April 27 - May 11, 2001 I had the joy of doing the Jomalhari trek in Western Bhutan.
While stationed with Bhutan Post on a private contract, I was lucky to see a remote part of this Shangri-La.
Due to the exclusivity of Bhutan (they charge around US$200/day) for tourists to come into the country, not many people can spend 15 days treking. So I count myself to be very lucky!

The pictures found on the next pages document the day-to-day journey taken on this trek.
The descriptions at the top of the page are taken from a tour operator to give more of an idea of the trek.

Days 1 through 4: The start of the trek, up the Paro valley, to Jangothang.
Days 5 through 6: Jangothang, to Nyile La (4890), to Lheuntse , to Chebisa (where we lost 5 of 11 yaks!)
Days 7 through 9: From Chebisa, over Gobula (4350m) to Shomuthang, into Laya and Robluthang, over Sinche La (5005m) and down to Lemithang.
This day has our highest elevation: 5050m
Days 10 through 15: From Lemithang to Laya, exploring Laya, to the Gasa Hot Springs, down to Damji, and finding the road just before Tashithang.
Special Feature: Sinchi La Panorama (5050m): in QuickTime VR format!

See the highest place I've been on the planet, as if you were right there!
