Preparations begin at Maryanne and Mad's place in Burnaby.
Everyone is prepared and ready for a long weekend of hiking
"Lean on me" .. Moik is used as a stretch-post.
The troops look on as Sol starts to undress. Notice the yellow-jacketed
people with garbage bags? We won't tell any bed-time stories about them...
This weekend had a major theme: WET!
Our only savior was the cabins created for cross-country skiiers. This
picture was taken during lunch. The sky opened up with hail/snow/rain while
we had lunch.
After lunch we continued trekking in the wetness. The signpost in this
picture blatantly lied about the distance required to go to the final cabin.
The snow/hail encountered during lunch is visible in this picture.
This picture shows the terrain covered that afternoon. After the rain,
the little bushes were full of water. When brushed up against, they promptly
drenched you.
Mok and Mad make a trecherous river crossing
"Jasons in the Mist".
Many foul words were coming out of Mad's mouth by this time, but the
scenery remained spectacular.
After hiking in the dark marsh with completely soaked feet, we made
it to McNair cabin. Sol shows his joy at making it this far.
McNair Lake cabin. Notice the drying socks by the stove.
A picture of McNair Lake cabin the next morning (from the outhouse).
Spectacular scenery all-around.
Anna and Maryanne keep up good teeth-hygiene (even when in the middle
of nowhere)
The troops are ready to conquer Panther.
The terrain going to Upper McNair lake was straight-up. Sol and Anna
flex for this picture. Going down was fun for Maryanne.
Destination reached: Upper McNair Lake. Panther is visible behind (we
did not go for the peak due to time constraints)
Lower McNair lake (very close to the cabin) reflects beautifully.
Jason poses by Lower McNair Lake.
Collecting our packs, we trek back to our previous lunching-cabin.
Maryanne, Moik and Anna shows off her new sleeping bags. The down bags
would provide great nests for the many mice running around during the night.
Jason poses by yet-another spectacular lake on the way to the
vehicles.
